Helicopters! Army Aviation – 5th Aviation Regiment: closes 18th March

14th – 18th May

 

5th Aviation Regiment provides the Army’s air assault capability in a joint, combined or interagency environment. 5th Aviation Regiment is home to Chinook and Taipan aircraft.
Students will rotate through the different Squadrons within the Regiment, including flying, logistics and maintenance squadrons as well as Regiment Headquarters. Students will have the opportunity to observe and experience a range of roles across the Regiment, including those of pilots, aircraft technicians, aircraft life support fitters and logistics personnel. 
Students may also have an opportunity to visit and participate in activities at the Taipan or CH47 Chinook Simulator.

Tanks! Armoured Corps Overview – 2nd Cavalry Regiment: closes 21st March

30th April – 4th May

 

2nd Cavalry Regiment (2 Cav Regt) is an Armoured Cavalry Regiment, and is currently equipped with the Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV), M113AS4 tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. 
Students will have the opportunity to observe and experience a range of roles and responsibilities across the Regiment, including those of Armoured Corps troopers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Ordnance and Transport staff. 
Students may also be involved in other activities including physical training, armoured vehicle simulators, vehicle workshops and 2 Cavalry Regiment’s Historical Display.

INDIGENOUS OPPORTUNITY 
Broadspectrum is a Defence contracted workshop, based at Lavarack Barracks, that provides maintenance services to a range of Defence vehicles and equipment.  Trades undertaken include vehicle mechanic, fitter & turner, electronic technicians and electrical fitters.
Broadspectrum is looking to increase indigenous participation in the work place and have expressed a desire to host indigenous students for work experience.
Ideally, students will already be undertaking a VET certificate level course in one of the trade areas mentioned above.  If they can come to the workplace with an understanding of workplace safety and basic knowledge of hand tools, this will be advantageous and will allow them to be more 'hands on' during work experience.

Student Requirements: Collect form from Student Reception or download from the Required Documents tab of the Careers Website.

Students are required to find and contact their own employer for work experience.

For general work experience, complete the Workplace Safety Induction course under the ‘Workplace Learning’ tab on the careers website.
Present or email certificate to student reception.

The White Card is required for students undertaking work in construction industry areas such as: Carpentry, Plumbing, Building, Electrical, Drafting and Architecture. Visit www.bluedogtraining.com.au for information. Please present white card to student reception.
